JOB GOAL: To service St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church (the "Church") and its clergy, staff and parishioners (the "Church Community") by providing custodial and grounds keeping maintenance services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and /or ability required for this position:
- Ability to clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchens; meeting rooms, offices and large gathering areas;
- Ability to clean, dust and wipe furniture, sweep, mop or vacuum floors, empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers, ash trays and cigarette urns; replace light bulbs and refill bathroom containers;
- Ability to strip, clean, buff and apply floor wax, sealer and other floor finishes to hard surface floors and to vacuum and shampoo carpets;
- Ability to wash walls and equipment and use ladders when required for work assignments;
- Ability to assist with the setup of all Church facilities for meetings, gatherings and other events and to move furniture, equipment and tools as and when needed;
- Ability to wash all accessible interior and exterior windows, clean blinds and shades and to launder cleaning rags and mops.
- Ability use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools such as mowers, tractors, chain saws, electric clippers, leaf blowers, clippers, pruning saws, shovels, rakes, axes, buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, windows and all other Church grounds, facilities, tools, equipment and furnishings;
- Ability to mow or edge laws using mowers or edgers and to care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks and walls;
- Ability to maintain or repair tools, equipment or structures such as buildings, fences or benches using hand or power tools;
- Ability to provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters and other grounds features;
- Ability to prune or trim trees, shrubs or hedges using appropriate tools and equipment;
- Ability to gather and remove leaves and litter and to mix and spray fertilizers, herbicides or insecticides onto grass, shrubs or trees using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders;
- Ability to water lawns, trees or plants using portable sprinklers systems, hoses or watering cans;
- Ability to nurture flowers and perennials and to and clean and weed flower and perennial beds;
- Ability to rake and much and compost leaves, haul or spread topsoil and mulch and install rock gardens, decks, drainage systems, irrigation systems, fences, planters and playground equipment,
- Ability to build forms and mix and pour concrete for garden borders;
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with the Church Community;
- Ability to abide by the moral and ethical norms of the Roman Catholic Church and to share in the same general covenant relationship to minister to the people of God and to model to the larger community the teachings of the Church; and
- Such alternatives to the above requirements as the Business Administrator may deem reasonably appropriate and acceptable.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :
1. A high school graduate or equivalent education and/or experience;
2. Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
3. Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a full time non-exempt position requiring not more than 40 hours per week. The position will require variable hours outside of regular business hours to meet the needs of the Church Community including evening and weekend hours. The initial work hours for this position are the following:
· Monday 8am to 5pm
· Tuesday 8am to 5pm
· Wednesday 1pm to 10pm
· Thursday 8am to 5pm
· Friday 1pm to 10pm
