The Cottonwood school is a tuition-free, public charter school serving transitional kindergarten through 12th-grade students in Alpine, Amador, El Dorado, Placer, and Sacramento Counties. Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Instruction and with the support of an  Instructional Administrator, the Homeschool Teacher is responsible for the education of assigned TK-12th grade students and will create an individualized and flexible program favorable for learning and personal growth. In addition, the Homeschool Teacher will support instruction based on the California Common Core State Standards and will address student needs for academic intervention and enrichment. The Homeschool Teacher will also work with the student’s parents to provide guidance, resources, and strategies to ensure optimal learning and positive social/emotional development. Student Caseload: 28-34*

*Student caseloads outside the range require administrative approval

Duties and Responsibilities:

? Serve and support students in TK-12th grade. E

? Meet with students and parents at least once every 20 school days to review each

student’s work and ensure each student is making satisfactory progress. E

? Develop lesson plans that ensure the attainment of the California Common Core State

Standards. E

? Provide direct and indirect instruction. E

? Establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with students and their parents. E

? Develop customized short and long-term plans for each child and address the

specific individual needs of the student. E

? Prepare students for all required assessments. E

? Collect and analyze assessment data for educational planning and determine

appropriate interventions. E

? Evaluate each student’s progress. E

? Review and approve enrichment orders for materials and services that support the

student’s learning plan in accordance with school policies. E

? Complete required paperwork and necessary records promptly. E

? Provide an inviting, exciting, and innovative learning environment. E

? Encourage student participation in local and state-mandated testing to measure student performance. E

? Participate in proctoring all internal and state-mandated testing and provide needed

preparation materials for students. E

? Complete all compliance items accurately and in a timely manner (examples: master

agreements, attendance logs, work samples/records, learning logs, progress reports,

assignment sheets, report cards, etc.) E

? Actively participate in SST, 504, and Special Education meetings, processes, and

supports as needed. E

? Provide input and documentation as requested by the special education case managers,

student support coordinators, and/or service providers. E

? Attend all required meetings and professional development training. E

? Plan and coordinate regional events such as field trips, community service clubs,

performances, promotion/graduation, etc. in alignment with monthly and yearly

expectations. E

? Serve on school committees, participate in school and community activities, and represent the school as appropriate. E

? Complete annual Community Building Commitments. E

? Perform other duties as assigned. E

Qualifications/Skills:

? Knowledge of various learning modalities and educational philosophies.

? Knowledge of effective strategies, curriculum, and instruction to support all students.

? Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and educational programs.

? Professional oral and written communication skills in English, including academic report writing.

? Proficiency in operating standard office equipment including a variety of software applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Google (docs, sheets, forms, drives), and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom,

Google Chat, etc.).

? Ability to organize, prioritize, work under time constraints, and be flexible in an environment of multiple tasks.

? Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

? Must live in the Northern California, Sacramento area and be able to commute to El Dorado Hills.


Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

? Valid California teaching credential

? Multiple Subject Credential preferred

? English Learner Authorization

? Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university

? Valid California Driver's License

? To serve TK students, educators must meet the requirements in the TCS Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten policy.
