JOB PURPOSE

Assure consistent product Safety and Quality by testing, measuring and verifying manufacturing operations. Performance of procedures that comply with stated corporate mission and strategic plan, corporate policies, and customer product specifications

Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pre-operational testing of sanitation to include ATP testing of surfaces, and evaluation of cleaning practices
  • Sample pulling for shelf life, microbiological, and customer requirements
  • Packaging checks to ensure correctness of weight, labeling and traceability
  • Temperature measurement of product and environment
  • Calibrations on weight scales, thermometers, pH meter and all applicable testing tools or detectors
  • G.M.P. monitoring of the operation to assure a food safe environment
  • Color, Sizing and grade evaluation of fresh perishable produce
  • Color code enforcement; sanitation, organics handling, allergen control
  • Hold and release program
  • Rework Program
  • Shelf-life evaluation and sensory testing as required
  • Paperwork filing and data entry
  • Work with soap’s / other cleaning/processing chemicals
  • Other duties as required


PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Required to stand, sit, and walk for long periods of time
  • Frequent use of hands for simple, firm grasping and writing
  • Occasional bending, stopping, reaching, climbing
  • Occasional lifting, carrying 5 pounds to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally using cutting utensils (i.e. knives, peeler)
  • Exposure to product fumes such as onions, peppers etc.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures of 45 degrees or less
  • Exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, etc.
  • Works overtime as required
  • Other duties as required


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum High School Education / G.E.D. preferred or applicable certification
  • Good communication skills
  • Working knowledge of basic produce standards, and customer fresh wrap specifications
  • Microsoft Office / Excel / Word - basic computer skills
  • A working knowledge of English and basic math
  • Ability to interact with management
