JOB SUMMARY
The TOMRA Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining TOMRA reverse vending machines (RVM) or sorting systems, used in recycling and waste management facilities. The operator ensures that the equipment runs smoothly and efficiently, sorting materials such as plastic, glass, and aluminum, and assists with troubleshooting minor mechanical and operational issues.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Operate TOMRA Machines: Start, operate, and monitor TOMRA RVMs or sorting systems according to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Material Sorting and Processing: Oversee the sorting and recycling of materials, ensuring that the machine accurately identifies and separates materials by type.
- Machine Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and cleaning on the machines to prevent malfunctions, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Identify, diagnose, and resolve minor technical issues; report major issues to maintenance or technical teams.
- Quality Control: Check processed materials for quality and accuracy, ensuring that sorting meets company and regulatory standards.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and protocols, maintaining a clean and hazard-free workspace.
- Record Keeping: Document machine performance, maintenance activities, and any incidents to support continuous improvement and accountability.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors, maintenance teams, and other operators to achieve production targets and resolve any operational issues.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 years of general work experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with a Optical Sorting or CNC operator.
- High School Diploma or GED; a college degree is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
