Job Summary

  

The Junior TEMPEST Engineer provides TEMPEST test support and programmatic. This role works under the direct supervision of a current NSA Certified TEMPEST Professional II (CTP II) conducting Instrumented TEMPEST Surveys (ITS) and Visual TEMPEST Inspections (VTI) at USCG facilities nationwide. The Junior TEMPEST Engineer assists in the development of TEMPEST Test Plans and Reports, manages and moderates bi-weekly TEMPEST Status teleconferences with USCG representatives, maintains calibration and inventory of TEMPEST Test Equipment, and manages and properly stores classified TEMPEST-related data.

  

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Perform VTI inspections as a member of a team or independently.
  • Conduct ITS inspections under the direction of a certified TEMPEST engineer (CTP II).
  • Document TEMPEST survey and inspection activities, utilizing visual and specialized instrumental methods at USCG units.
  • Develop specialized test equipment to facilitate TEMPEST testing.
  • Provide TEMPEST documentation support in laboratory and field environments.
  • Assist in identifying and acquiring TEMPEST information necessary for the development of test plans.
  • Assist in developing contingency plans and risk management options related to TEMPEST operations.
  • Update and maintain documentation as required.
  • Manage and moderate bi-weekly TEMPEST Status teleconferences with USCG representatives.
  • Maintain calibration and inventory of TEMPEST Test Equipment.
  • Manage and properly store TEMPEST-related classified data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

   

Requirements


  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • High degree of creative ability, innovative analysis approaches, and engineering skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and address abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Normal office environment and laboratory settings.
  • Ability to move through confined and restricted spaces
  • Capable of climbing ladders and stairways
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment ranging up to 50 – 75 lbs.

Travel Requirements

  • 40-60%
