Job Summary
The Lead Staff, Program & Activity position is responsible for assisting the Recreation Lead Coordinator in the planning, management, and operation of recreation programs and activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older with a valid US driver's license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Have or obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within four (4) weeks of hire.
The successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check, MVR, drug test, and subsequent mandatory checks in accordance with current District policy requirements.
Preferred but not required:
- Experience working with group activities.
- Proficiency in the Spanish language.
Essential Functions

- Lead activities while maintaining an energetic and positive attitude.
- Drive participants in a District vehicle to and from activities safely.
- Keep inventory of participants throughout activities.
- Communicate with participants and staff in a clear and respectful manner.
- Conduct daily check-in and check-out of participants.
- Assist the Recreation Coordinator as needed.
- Prepare facilities for activities with necessary equipment and supplies.
- Clean up sites and vehicles when activities are complete.

Working Conditions and Aptitudes
- Duties are performed indoors and outdoors, including working in inclement weather, and extreme temperatures.
- Work effectively with crowds, uncooperative participants, difficult situations, emergency response, and periods of continuous demand.
- Duties primarily performed in a public setting, requiring constant interaction with a variety of people.
- Work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays depending on department needs.
- This position is ineligible for remote work. Essential duties cannot be completed without being physically present.
