GENERAL SUMMARY:
Quality Control Supervisor oversees the Quality Control activities; responsible for the verification of analysis results; ensure that the various instruments used in the performance of tests are properly calibrated for accuracy of results; trains Technicians. Ensure all raw materials used have COA & meets specifications; processing procedures are consistently followed, and products approved for shipment complies with regulatory requirements & customer specifications. Ensure that all testing results are archived in SafetyChain Food Safety & Quality Management System.
SCOPE OF JOB FUNCTION
- Train Quality Control Technicians to understand the principles behind the various quality control procedures and HACCP; performance of various routine Quality Control checks; review/verify daily quality documentation.
- Verify QCP (Quality Control Points) & CCP (Critical Control Points) test results, ensures that analysis results are documented & complies with specifications.
- Confirm that corrective actions are implemented as needed.
- Conduct production & processing audit to ensure GMP practices are consistently followed for food safety & quality.
- Conduct EMP (Environmental Monitoring Procedure) to validate sanitation procedures.
- Evaluate food processing and storage operations and assist in the development of quality assurance programs.
- Check & validate functionality of metal detector to ensure proper performance in the rejection of contaminated product; ensures that machine settings are optimized to maintain high integrity of test results.
- Validate actual product shelf life by conducting chemical & sensory test monitoring during the period of product shelf life; confirm consistent compliance with the specifications.
- Up-date specifications as necessary and ensures that valid changes are effectively communicated to the team.
- Verify microbiological analysis results & confirms specification compliance; issues COA (Certificate of Analysis).
- Verify regulatory & labeling compliance.
- Provide technical support to internal & external customers; responds to Customer Complaints, determines corrective action & ensures timely implementation.
- Inspect in-coming materials for conformance to company standards.
- Perform analytical tests on samples, using standard methods of analysis specific to the raw material or finished product.
- Conduct or assist in the food safety employee training programs across departments.
- Provide feedback in the development of SOP’s and SSOP’s.
- Participate in Special Projects as required involving shelf-life studies, packaging validation studies, HACCP risk assessment, internal audits, and competitive evaluation.
- Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- Degree in Technical Course in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Nutrition, etc. or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Food Processing Quality position.
- Skilled in statistical charts and data analysis.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, and strong leadership skills.
- Ability to work well with other departments, suppliers, and customers.

- Knowledge of manufacturing environment and practices.
