Role Overview


We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager who will spend 50% of their time coding while also leading and mentoring a team of software engineers in building and enhancing our mental health and telemedicine platforms. This role is responsible for driving technical excellence, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of scalable and reliable solutions. As an Engineering Manager, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and DevOps, to align technology with business objectives. 


Responsibilities:


Hands-On Development (50%) 

  • Design, develop, and deploy high-quality software solutions. 
  • Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews. 
  • Work across the stack, including React, Node.js, Python (Django), and database design
  • Optimize system performance, scalability, and security. 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Mentor and support engineers in their technical and professional career growth. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, high quality, accountability, and continuous learning. 
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, provide feedback, and support career development. 

Technical Execution & Delivery 

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects. 
  • Ensure high-quality code, architecture, and system performance. 
  • Promote best practices in software development, including testing, CI/CD, and DevOps. 
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and HIPAA regulations. 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management 

  • Work closely with product managers and designers to define requirements and priorities. 
  • Partner with other engineering leaders to drive alignment across teams. 
  • Advocate for engineering needs while balancing business goals and constraints. 

Qualifications:


Experience

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a leadership role. 
  • Strong background in leading agile development teams. 
  • Experience in a SaaS, healthcare, or telemedicine environment is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Full-stack engineering experience with React, Node.js, Python (Django), and AWS. 
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, cloud computing, database architecture, and microservices. 
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, QA practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code. 

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to influence technical direction and drive team alignment. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for improving healthcare through technology.
