Position Title: Sterile Processing Operator 

Reports To: Team Leader/Plant Manager 

FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt 

Job Grade:

Pay Range: $21.00- $29.00

Position Overview:

 The Sterile Processing Operator is responsible for overseeing the efficient operations of the sterile filtration and packaging process to ensure the highest quality product is delivered. This role involves operating equipment, monitoring production, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining sanitation and safety standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate all sterile filtration processing equipment efficiently.
  • Collect and deliver required samples to the laboratory for testing.
  • Monitor equipment performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to improve operating efficiencies.
  • Assist in training new employees and operators.
  • Follow and help improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the packaging area.
  • Record equipment readings and complete log sheets accurately.
  • Assist in cleaning both the interior and exterior of the plant.
  • Monitor and report product spills, safety hazards, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Actively participate in food safety initiatives such as HACCP and other safety programs.
  • Handle chemicals safely for Clean-in-Place (CIP), Clean-out-of-Place (COP), sanitation, and      sterilization procedures.
  • Keep the work area sanitary and organized.
  • Ensure the sterile filtration area is stocked with necessary supplies for daily production.
  • Adhere to occupational safety regulations and all applicable food safety mandates (Safe Quality Foods,      FDA, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to operate or learn to operate production equipment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail in sample collection and testing.
  • Excellent safety, attendance, and punctuality record.
  • Knowledge of proper use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to navigate all areas of the facility, including office spaces, warehouse areas, and the exterior perimeter.

· You must wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary to safely perform job duties.

· Ability to stand, sit, and carry out tasks throughout a full shift, with appropriate meal breaks.

· Physically capable of standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, and crouching as needed.

· Able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds independently and heavier objects with reasonable accommodation.

· Visual acuity is sufficient to perform job duties accurately.

· Capable of assessing weights, judging distances, and working at various heights.


Work Schedule:

Typically, Monday-Friday 6am-230pm. Schedule is subject to change as production volumes ramp up.

Our wage range for this role is determined by various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs. It is not typical for an employee to start at or near the top of the range for the position. Compensation decisions are made based on individual job circumstances considering skill level, previous experience, and education requirements.
