Position: High School Theater Director
Location: St. Michael the Archangel High School, Lee's Summit, MO

Job Summary:
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School committed to academic excellence and faith formation, seeks a passionate and dedicated Theater Director to lead our performing arts program. The ideal candidate will foster an environment that nurtures creativity, collaboration, and a love for the performing arts while integrating the school's Catholic values into productions and instruction. This candidate will work with students after school and on evenings to prepare for the school's performances. This position has the ability to grow and be shaped as the participation increases.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and direct high-quality theatrical productions, including a fall play and a spring musical, that align with the school’s mission and Catholic teachings.
- Encourage student participation in all aspects of theater, from performance to stage crew and design.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that nurtures students’ talents and confidence.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to integrate theater arts into the broader curriculum.
- Manage production budgets, schedules, and logistics, including securing rights, overseeing rehearsals, and coordinating performances.
- Supervise and mentor students involved in theater productions.
- Maintain theater facilities, equipment, and resources.
- Engage parents and the broader school community in supporting the theater program.
- Uphold and promote the values of Catholic education in all theatrical endeavors.
- Serve as a role model of faith and integrity for students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field.
- Experience in directing theatrical productions at the high school level or beyond.
- Familiarity with Catholic teachings and a willingness to incorporate them into theatrical instruction and productions.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to inspire and mentor students of varying skill levels.
- Proficiency in stage production elements, including set design, lighting, and sound.
- Experience working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and parents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in musical theater direction and/or vocal coaching.
- Background in technical theater and stage management.
- Previous experience in a faith-based or Catholic school setting.
