Nextworld builds a forward-thinking, no-code, cloud-based development and runtime platform with robust capabilities for enterprise applications.


Reporting to the Controller, with day-to-day work directed by both the Controller and Senior Accountant, will be responsible for supporting tax compliance and accounting functions, with a primary emphasis on sales and use taxes for , state and applicable jurisdictions, and international tax compliance.  Will also assist in tax reconciliations, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. 


The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of GAAP accounting, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail.  This position offers an opportunity for growth and development in a high-growth SaaS environment. 


Responsibilities:


Tax Compliance & Reporting: 

  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns across multiple jurisdictions. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax regulations. 
  • Maintain tax exemption certificates and ensure proper tax treatment of transactions. 
  • Assist in responding to tax audits and sales tax notices. 
  • Support state and international tax compliance, including research and filings, as needed. 
  • Assist with business license renewals and other tax-related filings. 
  • Maintain state and international tax account logins and documentation. 
  • Work with external CPA firm for federal and state income tax returns 

Accounting & Reconciliation: 

  • Review accuracy of sales taxes applied to sales order and use taxes paid for supplier invoices 
  • Prepare monthly tax account reconciliations and propose necessary journal entries. 
  • Support the month-end close process, including tax-related entries and accruals. 
  • Assist in maintaining accurate general ledger records for tax liabilities. 
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls over financial reporting related to tax. 

Process Improvement & Support: 

  • Identify opportunities to streamline tax reporting processes. 
  • Assist with automation initiatives related to tax compliance and reporting. 
  • Provide support for external audits related to tax matters. 
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in accounting, with exposure to tax accounting preferred.
  • Knowledge of U.S. sales and use tax regulations, multi-state tax compliance and international tax compliance a plus.
  • Proficiency in accounting and sales tax software and ERP systems (experience with SaaS industry preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Starting Salary Range:   $50,000 – $70,000 per year

Position located in Greenwood Village, CO. Nextworld's hybrid model has co-location in-office days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
