POSITION   SUMMARY

This position of the EHS Director will provide guidance and support to all employees to drive world class safety and environmental performance at Deltech. The EHS Director will be the driving force in fostering an environment where safety, the well-being of our employees, and concern for the environment are at the core of every process, decision, and operation. This role will lead and inspire employees to not only comply with standards but exceed them, ensuring that health and safety remain core values, from top leadership to frontline staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Drive a safety-first mindset across all departments, encouraging everyone in the organization to take ownership of safety. Lead by example and engage with teams at all levels to create a sustainable culture of safety and accountability.
  • Ensure continued compliance with all applicable international, federal, state, and local EHS&S regulations with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Drive improvements in sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance.
  • Monitor proposed changes to EPA, OSHA, and international regulations for impacts on Deltech operations.
  • Educate and inspire employees to be more proactive in identifying hazards and risks through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on leadership. 
  • Design and implement EHS program initiatives that not only mitigate risk but empower employees to think critically about impacts to all stakeholders. 
  • Use data to drive decisions and identify trends. Regularly analyze incident reports, safety audits, and environmental metrics to discover insights, and collaborate with leadership to implement changes that elevate EHS standards.
  • Work cross-functionally with all departments to ensure that EHS is integrated into every process, design, and production plan. Partner with operations, engineering, HR, and other leaders to ensure safety and environmental concerns are part of every business decision.
  • Be prepared to act quickly and decisively in the event of an emergency. Evaluate emergency response protocols, training, and   prevention measures. 
  • Take ownership of behavioral safety programs, guiding the organization in addressing potential unsafe behaviors and developing actionable strategies to change mindsets and prevent incidents and accidents.
  • Push for continuous improvement by always seeking new ways to elevate the safety culture. Stay up to date on the latest industry trends, safety technology, and best practices, and lead efforts to implement innovative solutions that set new benchmarks for safety excellence.
  • Build and foster a learning environment where employees feel empowered to enhance their skills in EHS. Develop training   programs that not only cover procedures but also inspire individuals to take proactive actions.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Extensive experience (10+ years) in EHS leadership roles within a chemical manufacturing or industrial environment, with a proven track record of driving EHS culture transformation.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office 365

Certifications & Licenses: Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certifications are highly preferred.

Other Requirements: 

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, chemical safety protocols, and industrial hygiene principles. 
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in driving EH&S performance.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable federal and state safety and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze data, make data-driven decisions, and trend data over periods of time.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional environment and positively influence various departments.
