Description

The MRI Technologist RT(MR) at Riverside Healthcare is responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images. This role involves working closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patient care and diagnostic procedures are carried out with the highest standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent technical skills, patient care, and a thorough understanding of MRI procedures and protocols. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.


Scheduling Requirements: Part time - Afternoons  (2pm-10:30pm or 3pm-11:30 pm), rotating weekends/ holidays and call


Essential Duties

  • Perform MRI Examinations: 
  • Operate MRI equipment to conduct imaging procedures, ensuring that all images are clear and meet diagnostic standards.
  • Provide headphones or earplugs to patients to improve comfort and reduce unpleasant noise
  • Conduct daily quality control (QC) checks on equipment and imaging systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct routine visual inspections and escalate for maintenance of MRI equipment, reporting any issues or malfunctions promptly.
  • Patient Care:
  • Conduct screening interviews of patients to identify contraindications.
  • Prepare and position patients for MRI exams, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Perform venipuncture to administer contrast agents or other injectable substances required for radiology procedures, ensuring accurate dosage and patient safety according to established protocols.
  • Perform point-of-care testing (POCT). 
  • Safety Compliance: 
  • Follow all safety protocols related to MRI, including magnetic safety, patient safety, and maintaining a safe environment in the MRI suite. 
  • Documentation: 
  • Accurately document patient information, imaging procedures, and results in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Collaboration: 
  • Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide necessary diagnostic information.
  • On-Call Availability:
  • Be available for on-call duties as required, providing imaging services promptly when needed.


Non-essential Duties

  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members or students as needed.
  • Perform administrative or clerical duties related to the imaging department.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement projects.
Requirements

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as an MRI Technologist preferred.
  • Strong technical skills in operating MRI equipment.
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of MRI safety protocols and procedures

Required Licensure/Education

  • Associates degree in radiologic sciences or successful completion of accredited allied health program or met eligibility requirements for ARRT(R)MR or AMRIT RT(MR).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Hearing: Needed for active listening to colleagues, patients, visitors, and others encountered in the course of job duties.
  • Touch: Needed for operating computer equipment, key boarding of entry and/or other patient care functions.

Salary Description
$36.44/hr - $47.40/hr
