Avondale House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides, educational services to individuals with autism, a day program for young adults, where clients receive training in daily living skills and pre-vocational activities and four group homes for adults unable to live in their own home.
We are currently seeking individuals with open availability to fill in at various residential homes when staff are out. Guaranteed 40 hours per week. Shifts may include:
- 3:30 PM - 11:00 PM
- 11:00 PM - 9:00 AM
- Weekends
Preference will be given to candidates with the most flexible availability. Multiple positions are available.

Ensures the smooth operation of the assigned residential home, through coordination of house duties and implementation of each individual's IEP/IPP.
- Implements target goals and objectives as written on the individual's IEP/IPP.
- Keeps daily data and records on each individual's performance.
- Provides/supervises daily nutritional, health and hygiene care for all individuals assigned.
- Ensures sufficient food is in each residence for emergencies and to enable staff to follow designated menus and ensuring sufficient cleaning supplies are available in each residence to enable proper cleaning.
- Accompanies residents to routine and emergency doctor’s appointments.
- Daily correspondence to appropriate persons as needed.
- Supervises self-administration of medication program.
- Ensures resident participation in community based instruction (CBI) including grocery and supply shopping and other recreational outings.
- Attends all in-service training classes as scheduled.
- Ensures completion and entry into Reboot system of daily house documentation, to include but not limited to fire drill reports, daily progress notes, cleaning checklists, incident reports, medication administration, attendance records and other documents as required.
- Maintains cleanliness of entire residence at all times.
- Maintains organization of bedrooms, including closets and drawers.
- Works with staff throughout Avondale House to meet the needs of each client.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience working in a residential setting, preferably with individuals with autism or related handicapping conditions.
- CPR certified.
- Patient, authoritative personality.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to implement CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
- Lifting/Moving up to 50 lbs and lifting moving up to 100 plus lbs with assistance.
- Ability to stand on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time.
- Stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, kneeling, pushing and pulling may be required in this position.
- Must be capable of physically restraining clients if necessary.
- Must be able to handle situations that may be stressful at times.
