Full Time Permanent Position, Monday to Friday Day Shift

As experts in the technology of light, G&H works with customers to provide optical systems, assemblies, and components for demanding applications. We are looking to add a Senior Coating Technician to our team of skilled operators. This role demands a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and leadership abilities to mentor and guide junior operators.

As a Senior Coating Technician, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between Coating Operators and Manufacturing Engineers, ensuring the production of high-quality, complex thin films while also contributing to process optimisation and troubleshooting. You will serve as a senior point of contact for coating operations, overseeing process performance, providing technical support, and assisting the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.


Main responsibilities include;

Set up, operate, and monitor coating chambers, measurement equipment, and environmental testing to ensure optimal thin film performance

Assist the Manufacturing Engineer and Supervisor in maintaining oversight on process outputs, identifying and addressing any deviations from expected yield and quality standards

Assisting in root cause analysis for process non-conformities and implement corrective actions

Perform routine maintenance and calibration of coating equipment to ensure consistent performance

Under the guidance of more senior staff, become the principal technician for non-standard product lines including (IR, HUD, Bandpass etc.) and assist in transitioning development programs into production

Assist the CI and Training Coordinator in the rollout of training to coating operators


Ideal candidates will have the following;

5+ Years’ experience in Thin Film Manufacture 

Strong understanding of thin film deposition techniques, coating equipment, and quality control

Previous experience in process troubleshooting and improvement

Computer literate with proficiency in MRP systems and data analysis tools 

Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a methodical approach with attention to detail

Results-oriented, adaptable, punctual, and flexible, with a positive attitude, customer focus, and a willingness to learn and develop
