ASSISTANT BRANCH MANAGER


SUMMARY

To assist the credit union in achieving its mission statement, PFCU WILL DELIVER FINANCIAL WELL-BEING WITH VALUE, CONVENIENCE AND EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE, the Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for gaining knowledge and experience in preparation for a career in management under direction of experienced personnel. This position is REQUIRED to travel to any of the west region branch locations on a needs basis, the home branch of this role will be the Ionia MI Branch. Requires a working knowledge of all Credit Union Departments and understands how they relate to the successful operation of the Credit Union. Receives training and performs duties in several departments to become familiar with employees’ daily job requirements, operations, management viewpoints and credit union policies and practices that affect each phase of business. Support,

model & adhere to PFCU’s Service Standards as outlined in My MARC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Observe employees to elevate personal knowledge of methods, procedures and standards required for successful performance of essential duties and responsibilities in varying credit union departments.
  • Have advanced knowledge of PFCU products & services, policies & procedures, rules & regulations; and assist members and employees, as needed.
  • Mentee under assigned Branch Manager, and other Department Managers and Executives to further develop knowledge and leadership practices in preparation for a future management or supervisor position.
  • Assume the responsibility of a Branch Manager, Vault Teller or Experience Specialist, as needed.
  • Engage actively in the Cross-Education Program. Support and promote cross education requirements developed for the Branch Operations team. Review/check cross-education tracking sheets to ensure goals are being met.
  • Coach and enforce the behaviors required to support employees’ goal achievement and assist in developing

employees’ product knowledge and cross selling skills. Assist and support the implementation of an action plan for individuals when goals are not met.

  • Monitor and investigate employee errors and institute coaching, corrective flow of work and/or corrective disciplinary action when required.
  • Monitor employees’ performance; conduct performance appraisals in a timely manner; provide encouragement and

recognition for outstanding performance. Conduct regular observations for coaching opportunities for staff.

  • Perform all duties outlined in PFCU’s Vault Addendum.
  • Set a positive example and be a role model by building relationships, being dependable, demonstrating initiative, responsibility, integrity, professionalism, and take responsibility to see that things are being done correctly and in a timely manner. Handle complex situations with confidence, knowledge and creativity. Be a leader.
  • Cultivate personal relationships with the membership and provide an individualized education experience by referring and promoting PFCU products and services based on identified financial need.
  • Certified in Financial Counseling. Will actively participate and obtain certification as the opportunity is available.
  • Provide management with new or innovative ways for improvement of employees, service quality or products offered.
  • Communicate clearly and properly with all employees and management to ensure a positive and clear understanding

of the credit union’s goals and direction.

  • Work at any PFCU location to assist with the management of the team in the absence of the Branch Manager, Assistant Manager or another employee; during a short- or long-term absence.
  • Perform any special jobs or projects as directed by Management.
  • Work with other management to ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Develop and cultivate community relationships.
  • Maintain cleanliness and security of work area and equipment including protecting the confidentiality of member information.
  • Seek training opportunities to develop or enhance knowledge through training, conferences, reading etc. Willingly prepare, participate in and attend educational functions and meetings as requested.
  • Complete and progress through the Leadership Evolution Program and a Career Development Plan.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

Follows regulatory and policy compliance requirements which would include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), Red Flag and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, and other compliance related policies.

This position requires maintaining confidentiality with regard to non-public information about our members, employees and the Credit Union. We must protect the confidentiality of member information. Financial transactions are confidential and private. With account access, employees are to handle member information responsibly and confidentially.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements

Two-year college degree or completion of specialized certification in a similar or related field. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a two-year degree or specialized certification.

Work Experience

Three to five years of similar or related experience is required. Two years’ experience in a leadership level position in a similar or related field is preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, vendors, members, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have the capability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.
