Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Painter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and preparing window and door frames for painting, as well as assisting with the priming and painting of materials. Essential Functions:
- Lift and position workpieces manually or with hoists, securing them on tables or paint racks.
- Set and adjust spray gun controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of spray equipment operation.
- Monitor painting gun operations to detect and resolve any issues or problems.
- Replace booth filters as needed.
- Identify equipment that requires repair, replacement, or adjustment.
- Requisition materials and equipment necessary for paint projects.
- Operate various types of equipment, including spray guns used in painting operations.
- Adhere to safety protocols by wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensuring the safe operation of all equipment.
- Assist on special projects and perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Ability to interpret written and oral instructions effectively.
- Strong teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with co-workers to resolve work-related issues.
- Knowledge of paint spraying equipment and materials is essential.
- Maintain an 85% production efficiency rating and an error rate of less than 5%.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision (less than 10% of schedule).
Physical Demands:
- Medium work: Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, pushing, and pulling are integral parts of the role, requiring full use of upper extremities and back muscles.
- Visual acuity is necessary for assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
- Work Environment:
- Workers are subject to various environmental conditions with protection from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- Exposure to hazards, including moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, and potential exposure to high temperatures and chemicals.
- The typical noise level may require shouting to be heard above ambient noise.
- Atmospheric conditions can include fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation, which may affect the respiratory system or skin.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of painting experience in a manufacturing or automotive setting is required.
