Custom Shop Engineering Assistant
Description


Marsh Furniture Company is seeking an experienced Custom Shop Engineering Assistant. This position is responsible for designing and developing custom products from a series of customer specifications within a set of design parameters defined by the organization. This role will require effective communication between the customer and the custom shop on needs, capabilities, and engineering constraints. Working with custom shop personnel, product development, purchasing, and the customer, the quote engineer is responsible for taking a conceptual drawing or request, engineering the request to include as many standard parts as possible, creating a series of drawings for approval and production purposes and importing necessary components and subassemblies into a bill of materials for system integration.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

· Interface between external Designer and Production departments with effective communication between the customer and product builders – customer-oriented approach to communication efforts

· Works with the Lead Engineer in translating and consulting on custom product requests

· Create detailed drawings for customer approval

· Create parts list for production

· Lead communication in purchasing requirements (hardware, finishing materials, decorative accessories, etc...)

· Document jobs as well as requests for future reference

· Familiarity with the manufacturing environment

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Developed verbal and written communication skills to include telephone

· Works well within a team environment

· Able to learn in a fast-paced environment

· Self-starter with the aptitude and willingness for continuous improvement

· Willing to stay current and adapt to changes in technology

· Accepts and responds well to constructive criticism


Beneficial Skill Sets:

· Outlook

· AutoCAD or equivalent CAD program

· Fusion 360 preferred

· Knowledge of wood and woodworking techniques

· Understanding of structural design and stability
