Role:
Under the supervision of the Alameda County Mental Health Program Director and the Clinical Supervisor, the Bilingual Mental Health Clinician has the primary responsibility for the providing direct mental health services to 6 to 18 years old and their families. Services include: assessment; development of a family centered treatment plan; providing developmentally appropriate mental health treatment; coordination of care with child welfare workers, parents, foster parents, and other collaterals; maintaining a written record of treatment, including initial assessments and treatment plans. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct client care in home or the community for children 6+ years and their families
- Practice linguistic and cultural humility
- Attend appropriate meetings, which include weekly group supervision, staff meetings, other required trainings and supervision
- Obtain consent for treatment from the child welfare worker, where appropriate
- Through regularly scheduled sessions, provide psychotherapy, intensive clinical case management, and crisis intervention, to assigned children and families. Work with various modalities including individual, dyadic, and family therapy. Conduct assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans in collaboration with clients, caregivers, and other providers, including internal ABW providers. Provide appropriate mental health services.
- Follow regulatory guidelines, mandated reporting, and program/agency protocols in performing duties
- Meet productivity and timeliness expectations
- Use time-management skills and supervisory support to meet productivity, documentation, and timeliness requirements.
- Meet all EPSDT contractual expectations; including all documentation needs, timeliness of progress notes (within 3 business days of service provision), and meet all programs expectations of effective chart management.
- Participate in all mandatory trainings, including those required at onboarding and throughout the year, to maintain compliance and support ongoing professional development.
- Participate in regular competency and performance evaluations to support professional development, ensure role effectiveness, and maintain alignment with program and organizational standards.
- Abide by all provisions of the A Better Way personnel manual.
- Perform any other duties as directed.
Qualifications and Characteristics Desired:
- MSW, MA, PhD or PsyD from accredited school of social work or psychology. Must be licensed or registered with BBS or BOP.
- Bilingual in Spanish required - Bilingual in Spanish required
- Excellent clinical and writing skills.
- Direct experience working with diverse racial and ethnic populations utilizing a culturally humble approach
- Understanding of basic theoretical and developmental principles of infant, early childhood, and family mental health
- Ability to understand psychological assessment reports; psychological assessment experience a plus for psychologist applicants
- Understand and desire to work with a strength-based mental health approach
- Knowledge, understanding, and willingness to work with interdisciplinary approaches and partnerships
- Understanding DSM, and treatment plans
- Ability to work independently and to work as a member of a team
- Excellent organizational, computer and communication skills.
- Ability to pass various background checks needed to work with children
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and maintain current auto insurance. All community-based staff may occasionally transport clients and families when appropriate for the purposes of therapeutic goals.
Work Environment
This role is primarily performed in an office setting, in the community, and/or through video meetings. In-person attendance is required for staff meetings, supervision, or other job-related responsibilities. The frequency of on-site work may vary based on departmental needs. Remote work privileges are subject to supervisor’s approval.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision for computer work and reading.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exempt, position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., subject to change, with supervisor approval, to meet the business needs.
Travel
Local travel to various work sites is required. Travel up to 90 miles within Alameda County.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and obtaining TB and health clearances. When applicable, driving records are periodically reviewed in accordance with company policy. Employees must also comply with the organization's vaccination requirements.
