SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Maintenance Technician Shift Lead supports and leads the maintenance team on their assigned shift, ensuring efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment. This role will also be responsible for assisting Maintenance Mechanics in repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):
- Leads and supports maintenance technicians on shift, ensuring alignment with production schedules and maintenance standards.
- Installs, sets up and troubleshoots molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and assembly equipment.
- Diagnoses malfunctions through use of proper test equipment.
- Performs preventative and predictive maintenance on all injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and assembly equipment.
- Properly documents repairs through use of Maintenance Work Order System.
- Participates in problem solving and process improvements on existing and new equipment.
- Performs all general equipment maintenance.
- Performs general housekeeping by keeping the Molding Floor and Maintenance areas neat and organized.
- Maintains compressed air, and machine water towers.
- Works effectively in a team environment to assure maintenance responsibilities are covered for production needs even on off shifts (24 on call).
- Responds after hours to emergency issues affecting production or the facility.
- Actively participates in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action, and internal/external customer satisfaction.
- Performs work on electrical circuits using proper Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures.
- Orders repair and maintenance components and supplies as needed.
- Keep organized component inventory, both physically and electronically.
- Participates in weekly safety meetings with maintenance staff.
- Operates forklift daily as needed.
- Performs other routine duties related to the maintenance of molding machinery and support of the molding department.
EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong organization and communication skills with internal costumer.
- Proficiency in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing equipment.
- Detail oriented with the ability to adapt to changes quickly.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and effectively lead and support team members
