A Day in the Life of a Project Accountant

You are at the forefront for the financial management and health of multiple projects. This includes: monitoring project performance by reviewing budgets and forecasting potential overruns, creating and maintaining project accounts in the accounting system using established procedures, maintaining work-in-process folders and files for all projects, setting up and closing out projects in the ERP system, assisting project managers with billing issues, reconciling receipts and budgets and communicating with the project manager as needed, preparing invoices, analyses of performance, compiling information for internal and external auditors and contributing to staff trainings.

We are targeting a salary range of $72,000-$82,000 for this position.

Work Schedule for a Project Accountant:

This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home  Mondays and Fridays. The Silver Spring office of Toole Design is our corporate headquarters. We are conveniently located just outside of Washington DC in downtown Silver Spring, close to regional trails and networks on on-street bike infrastructure two blocks from the Silver Spring Metrorail/MARC Station and bus depot. Our beautiful 8th floor suite offers stunning views of DC and surrounding Montgomery County. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.

Qualifications of a Project Accountant:

• A bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent relevant experience
• Five to seven years of Project Accounting experience
• Experience assisting in producing accurate and timely financial statements
• Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint, Vision, or other job cost accounting software
• Competency in reading/reviewing contracts
