Description

Coder II (Profee Coding - PF) accurately codes all appropriate diagnoses, procedures, E/M, HCC codes. Regularly monitors the appropriate hold accounts to facilitate timely coding. Has full access to patient health information


Coder II (PF) will provide brief OGCR (Official Guidelines for Coding & Reporting) or Coding Clinic education to the coding team at least twice per calendar year. Coder II (PF) will also serve as a resource for coding and or process questions from the Coder Trainees or Coder I teams as appropriate.


Coder II (PF) has the option to work remotely as long as quality and productivity benchmarks are met*. If quality and/or productivity falls below expectations for 2 successive reviews, the Coder II (PF) will be required to work on-side for a minimum of 3 days per week until quality and productivity benchmarks are consistently met.

Requirements

  

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of Medical Record Technology program, RHIT or CCS/CCA certification required.
  • Current accreditation or certification by AHIMA or AAPC.
  • Two years' coding experience required.
  • Excellent computer and typing skills required.
  • Experience with 3M (standalone or CAC) preferred.
  • Experience with Cemer EMR preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Must possess full range of body motion to pass a basic FIT test to include bending, stooping, standing and sitting for extended periods ohime. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires working under moderately stressful conditions and may require working extended or irregular hours.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Must have ability to read and code all types of records efficiently and accurately.
  • Requires normal vision/hearing range; absence of color-blindness. Must be able to distinguish letters and numbers.


Reports to: Accountable to the OP Coding Coordinator and Assistant Director of Medical Records.
