Description

  

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: 

  • Provides individual and group counseling services to elementary, middle and high school students in Chicago Public Schools on      the south and west sides of the city.
  • Coordinates with school staff and administration, parents, and other partners in providing clinical services and care to clients.
  • Provides crisis intervention and case management services, as needed. 
  • Manages agency expectations for all documentation, including but not limited to case notes and client assessments, in a      timely manner.
  • Develops professional partnerships with CPS school administration and behavioral health teams, and represents the agency      with professionalism and integrity.
  • Provides weekly reflective clinical supervision for masters level interns completing their internship requirements.
  • Maintains awareness of climate, cultural and clinical issues at each school and provides on-going support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 



Requirements

 Other: QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB: Education:

  • Master’s Degree in social work or counseling, or related field required

Experience:

  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity; ability to effectively communicate with families, professionals and community groups of diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing comprehensive counseling services, including crisis intervention.
  • Clinical      approach rooted in a trauma-informed, child-development, relationship-based lens.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of public/community resources that are helpful to clients and their families.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to integrating an anti-oppressive and social justice-oriented lens to therapeutic approach, including client assessments and diagnosis.
  • Commitment to the highest level of ethics, morals, standards, respect for others, empathy, and privacy of client information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and support others in navigating systemic issues that impact our clients and communities. 
  • Experience and demonstrated understanding of urban, under-resourced educational environments and the systemic forces that impact them.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 3 years post Master’s Degree experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Experience working in a non-profit mental health agency
  • Experience working in schools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be able to transport oneself to and from work sites.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
  • At times may be required to lift up to 25 lbs. for various classrooms and events needs.

Salary Description
$50,000-$55,000 annually
