Description
Join our team as a Licensed Veterinary Technician and play a key role in providing high-quality care in a high-volume spay/neuter clinic. You’ll assist with surgeries, perform dental procedures, monitor anesthesia, and support overall patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in surgery prep, anesthesia, and recovery.
- Perform exams, diagnostics, and treatments under veterinarian supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of surgical areas and equipment.
- Educate clients on post-surgical care and assist with foster appointments.
- Train and support volunteers and veterinary students.
- Manage inventory and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
- Required: WA State Licensed Veterinary Technician (or ability to obtain).
- Preferred: 1+ year of experience with dental procedures and high-volume spay/neuter.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with anesthesia monitoring and assisting in surgery.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a shelter setting.
- Commitment to animal welfare and the mission of HSSW.
Work Environment
- Hands-on work with animals in a clinical and shelter setting.
- Exposure to noise, cleaning chemicals, and potentially fractious animals.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends as needed.
