Floyd|Snider is looking to add a Geologist or Environmental Scientist to our collaborative team. We’re looking for someone with strong writing and data analysis skills who exemplifies our commitment to technical excellence, environmental responsibility, and customer service.
The primary role is to execute and communicate key field and analytical activities for environmental investigation and remediation projects in support of client goals. You’ll use your knowledge of environmental science and regulations for a range of activities on projects for municipal, port, state, and private clients. This position requires the ability to work independently and communicate effectively within a team, and to write technical reports and summarize analytical results clearly and concisely.
Here’s our list of must-haves:
- 3 - 7 years of applicable work experience
- Bachelor's or master's degree in geology or applicable scientific discipline
- Professional experience writing and developing environmental data reports and other technical documents
- Acquire and maintain any certifications or licenses required for completion of job tasks (e.g.; HAZWOPER, CPR, TWIC, CESCL)
- Able to lift 30 lbs, push or pull 50 lbs, and use fine motor skills
- Able to perform significant walking, standing, and bending during field work
- Valid driver’s license
Pay and Benefits
This is a full-time, permanent position. Geologists or environmental scientists with 3 - 5 years of experience earn $82K – $90K annually and will have the title of Staff Geologist or Environmental Scientist. Geologists or environmental scientists with 6 - 7 years of experience will earn $88K - $94K annually and will have the title of Project Geologist or Environmental Scientist. We also offer 11 paid holidays and 20 days of paid time off per year.
Floyd|Snider provides employees with a flexible work schedule that includes core hours 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Most staff are expected to work onsite 2 – 3 days per week, depending on their distance from our office.
Project work may sometimes require you to work more than your standard billable work week, but Floyd|Snider provides extra time off to recognize this effort. Regional travel is a small part of this role. You won’t typically go more than 3 hours away, and we’ll cover your expenses.
The Details
As a key member of project teams, your activities may include:
- Planning and implementing site investigations and developing conceptual site models
- Remedial design evaluation and construction oversight
- Preparation of reports
- Coordination with project teams and communications with agencies and clients

- Organizational skills – you see the big picture and the details. You’re able to juggle competing priorities without dropping the ball. You take action to reduce bottlenecks and ask for help when needed.
Anything on this list would be an asset, but is not required:
- Maintain Geologist-in-Training (GIT) and working toward Licensed Geologist (LG)
- Strong comprehension of applicable regulations and guidance including Model Toxins Control Act (MTCA); Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); Sediment Management Standards (SMS); and others as applicable
- Experience using AutoCAD
