GENERAL SUMMARY: 


Reporting to the Support Staff Supervisor and or Program Manager, the Support Staff position is responsible for program operations. In this position your role is multifaceted requiring a combination of practical, interpersonal, and documentation skills to ensure a safe, clean and supportive environment for the participants. This position conducts room checks, monitors, two-way radio, cameras, communication log and documentation. Extensive unit cleaning, assembling room items, furniture, and small living items. Adhere to a daily room schedule for cleaning and unit staging. Prepare to handle cleaning chemicals for in use and bathrooms and other related cleaning tasks. Conducts intakes, orientations and discharge of participants if applicable. Assists program participants with basic needs, conflict resolution, crisis intervention and performs a variety of other duties to assist participants while in a Next Move Program. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs routine checks for health and safety and monitors facility grounds to ensure the safety of participants.  
  • Conducts security checks of campus throughout shift on an hourly basis.  
  • Monitors on-site participant’s observance of program rules.  
  • Documents and files each shift by providing any pertinent information and completing shift log.  
  • Documents rule violations (FYIs) and completes incident reports when applicable.  
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing rooms, walls, bathrooms, laundry rooms, main office/HUB, kitchens, computer room, smoking area, and any surrounding areas.   
  • Compiles and completes daily inventory list, restocks kitchen (if applicable) and cleaning supply room.   
  • Ensures all household items are assembled, arranged correctly and documented for supervisor.  
  • Completes assigned shift tasks during shift.  
  • Prepares and handles chemicals for cleaning use.  
  • Assists participants with site related concerns and answers routine site questions.  
  • De-escalates crisis and responds to crisis situations in a calm manner.  
  • Comprehends and adheres to ethical standards and confidentiality laws.  
  • Responds to and assists other providers in delivering services to participants  
  • Supervises daily meals served in the kitchen and assists in other kitchen duties as needed.   
  • Transports clients as needed in company vehicle.  
  • Ensures compliance with all Next Move Homeless Services and Goodwill Industries Sacramento Valley Northern Nevada policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations.  
  • Attends training and staff meetings, as required.    
  • Performs other duties as assigned.   

 


Requirements

 QUALIFICATIONS: 


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.? The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill and/or ability required.? 

  • High School diploma or GED with one (1) year of experience working effectively with the public in a community setting;; or any combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the knowledge and ability to complete the duties outlined above. 
  • Experience working with the homeless population and the barriers faced by the unhoused. 
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professional integrity. 
  • Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or property. 
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of this job description with or without reasonable accommodation. 
  • A strong commitment to the program and the mission of the organization. 
  • Experience using basic computer, peripheral equipment and Microsoft office software. 
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs during shift.  
  • Ability to demonstrate personal effectiveness through strong problem-solving and time-management skills.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; and effectively present information to management and/or public groups. 
  • Proven ability to represent the interests of the organization, interact effectively with a diverse population, and be comfortable building successful collaborative relationships with families and individuals, staff and other stakeholders. 
  • High level of energy with the capacity for extraordinary time and effort demands. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record. 
  • Must have access to reliable transportation that does not interfere with performing the essential functions of the job description, cause tardiness, or unexcused absences.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403(b) retirement plan; Paid Holidays, Vacation and Sick Leave. This position is employed by Goodwill Industries® of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc. through Next Move Homeless Services, Inc.
