The Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) has exciting opportunities for you to make a meaningful impact in our community by joining our team at a new CVOEO Family Shelter in Chittenden County, Vermont. CVOEO’s Family Shelter will be a 24/7 shelter for 8 to 10 families with children experiencing homelessness. The Family Shelter will offer temporary shelter, housing advocacy and services with the goal of assisting families to find permanent housing.
Working with the Program Director, the Associate Director will assist in overseeing the operations of the Family Shelter and supervise the Housing Advocates, Interns, Volunteers and special projects. Provide leadership and direction in the absence of the Program Director. Ensure that housing advocates are using the housing / case management plans to move families quickly out of shelter and into permanent housing. Ensure staff and guests are adhering to all program policies and procedures.
This position is Monday - Friday 4:00pm - 12:00am.

Bachelor’s degree in social or human services or combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired. The successful candidate will have strong supervisory, management and training skills; a demonstrated history of success in working with people experiencing homelessness and in program development; and an in-depth knowledge of the causes and effects of homelessness, affordable housing, poverty, economic justice and multiple oppressions affecting economically vulnerable groups. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
