The Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) has exciting opportunities for you to make a meaningful impact in our community by joining our team at a new CVOEO Family Shelter in Chittenden County, Vermont. CVOEO’s Family Shelter will be a 24/7 shelter for 8 to 10 families with children experiencing homelessness. 


The Family Shelter Shift Coordinator will lead and support both staff and guests at the Family Shelter, working closely with the Program Director and Associate Director. Key responsibilities include managing staff scheduling for 24/7 shifts, guiding staff in service delivery, and ensuring adherence to program standards. The Shift Coordinator will provide trauma-informed support to shelter families experiencing homelessness, assist them in finding safe housing, and connect them with necessary services (e.g., medical, employment, mental health) and may continue supporting families after they secure permanent housing. The Shift Coordinator will also collaborate with community partners to address barriers to housing and promote a sense of community among families, foster volunteer engagement, and help build relationships with businesses for donations. A flexible schedule and local travel are required for this role.


This position is for Weekends (Saturday & Sunday) 8:00am - 8:00pm.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in social work or human services or experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired.  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are required. Supervisory experience is preferred.  Experience and/or work with families and children experiencing homelessness or living in economic poverty; direct experience in advocacy and service provision to individuals affected by housing and economic insecurities; and proficiency in group facilitation, including team building, conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques. Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, access to reliable transportation and willingness and ability to travel within the CVOEO service area.
