Medical Records Representative

Join Premier Bone and Joint Centers as a Medical Records representative / front desk representative.  In this position you will maintain and organize patient medical records to facilitate the efficient flow of medical record data from storage to patients, medical staff, physicians, and insurance companies for information acquisition and transfer.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Scanning

  • Retrieves and scan patient charts for upcoming clinical visits.

Patient Privacy

  • Maintain patient privacy by retaining oral and written patient health information.

Patient Chart Location

  • Locate patient charts for physicians, medical staff, and physical therapists.

Patient File Existence

  • Research existence of patient files.

Archives

  • Manage patient charts in archives and purge as necessary.

Medical Record Privacy

  • Ability to maintain medical record privacy and integrity.

Filing System & EMR Knowledge

  • Ability to utilize working knowledge of filing system and EMR.

  • Observe confidentiality of information in regards to patients, physicians, and fellow employees; ability to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards.

Attendance/Punctuality

  • Maintain a good attendance record and arrive to work punctually.

Overtime

  • Able to substantiate overtime, minimizes overtime and adjusts hours as needed.

Dress Code/Identification

  • Follow dress code of department, appear professional when present in the clinic, wear identification while on duty, and communicate name and role to patient appropriately.

Staff Meetings/In-Services

  • Participates in Premier Bone & Joint Centers and departmental in-services and staff meetings.

Safety & Infection Control Policies

  • Adhere to safety and infection control policies and standards of care policies, including patents privacy rights.


Care of Environment, Equipment, and Supplies:

Clean, Neat, Safe Environment

  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff, including personal work areas.

Equipment Safe Technique

  • Utilizing correct/safe technique when using equipment and notify manager of malfunctioning equipment.


Requirements

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent - Required


Experience:

Data Entry and/or Filing Experience - Preferred


Physical Requirements:

Seeing - Must be able to read reports, charts, and patient documents - Constant

Hearing - Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with patients, physicians, medical staff, administrative staff, co-workers, insurance companies, and the public - Constant

Speaking - Must be able to verbally communicate with patients, physicians, medical staff, administrative staff, co-workers, insurance companies, and the public - Constant

Grasping - Must have dexterity enabling retrieval, maintenance, and transport of patient charts - Constant

Standing - Must be able to stand for periods of time and maneuver stairs repeatedly - Frequently

Bending/Crouching - Must be able to lower oneself in order to retrieve patient charts - Frequently

Stooping/Squatting/ Kneeling - Must be able to stoop, squat, and kneel in order to retrieve patient charts - Frequently

Sitting - Constant


Weight Demands:

Lifting - Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds - Frequently

  • Must be able to life 11 to 25 pounds Occasionally
  • Must be able to life over 26 pounds Rarely
