SUMMARY: The Cashier is the principal recipient of cash and credit card payments for merchandise sold to customers of the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. This position will operate the register in providing clothing, household goods and furniture to needy individuals and families of the District Council's 11 Conferences, and with proceeds from sales of the remaining merchandise it receives through donations from the public, the Thrift Store defrays operating expenses to fund other programs of the District Council.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed. · Greet customers as they enter the store and again when they are ready to check out
· Keep display cases stocked and orderly
· Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate parties
· Ring individual items on the cash register, accept payment, and make proper change
· Accurately fill out credit cards which must be accompanied by a picture ID.
· Provide a receipt to every customer and bag their purchases
· Assist customers with directions to various "departments" and answer their questions.
· Keep register closed and locked when not recording a sale
· Maintain a clean, neat work area and sales floor.
· Assist with stocking priced items.
· Maintain clean dressing rooms as well as return items to racks.
· Help enforce all store policies while keeping in mind our mission.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Comply with all applicable training requirements
· Comply with all company safety, personnel and operational policies and procedures
· Comply with work schedule to ensure effective operations of Agency programs
· Contribute positively as a member of a productive and cooperative team
· Perform other duties as necessary to fulfill the St. Vincent de Paul CARES Mission

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (Pending on position and if prior to hire is approved by Chief Executive Officer, a comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum education qualifications)
· This position requires a high school diploma or GED certificate
· At least one to two years of experience in a retail environment
