Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. This role will oversee financial operations, ensure accuracy in reporting, and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in non-profit accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple financial projects simultaneously. A proactive and detail-oriented approach, along with a commitment to Lydia Home Association’s mission of supporting children and families in need, is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a non-profit organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
  • Strong experience in financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and account variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong customer service mindset, with proactive follow-up and clear communication.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Lydia Home Association.

Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and review monthly and annual income statements and balance sheets.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including account variation analysis.
  • Prepare financial reports for management, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.

General Accounting & Reconciliations:

  • Maintain and oversee the accuracy of financial records.
  • Perform account reconciliations, including:
  • Bank accounts: Reconcile bank statements to the general ledger (GL).
  • Accounts Payable (AP): Reconcile AP trial balance to GL.
  • Accounts Receivable (AR): Reconcile AR trial balance to GL.
  • Post and analyze journal entries, prepare trial balances, and ensure accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Oversee payroll processing and accounts payable/receivable functions.

Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Lead and coordinate annual audits and internal financial reviews.
  • Prepare and file tax returns and regulatory filings.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and mitigate financial risks.

Grant Management:

  • Oversee tracking and reporting of grant expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and prepare grant financial reports.

Financial Planning and Strategy:

  • Lead the development of the annual budget and provide financial forecasting.
  • Advise management on the financial implications of business activities.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and effectiveness.

Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Promote professional development opportunities for accounting team members.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial schedules for external auditors.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of financial tasks.

Salary Description
$75,000.00 - $85,000.00
