Deneen Pottery is a multi-generation family owned and operated production pottery studio responsibly making the highest quality handmade mugs on the planet. Each piece is hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel, touched by over 24 pairs of artist’s hands and customized with a Glaze Engraved™ medallion. Our staff of 90+ is very self motivated and proud of their work. We produce over 15,000 mugs per week for a customer base that exceeds 5,000 – predominantly National Parks, Restaurants, Coffee Shops and businesses both small and large from coast to coast. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Address operational and technical issues to optimize productivity in a professional manner.
- Maintains operation of building, machinery, and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements (where applicable) on HVAC, motors, pneumatics, air compressors and production machines; follows diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshoots malfunctions-delegating as needed.
- Able to create, invent, take apart and rebuild equipment and replace/repair components including motors, gear boxes, bearings and electrical systems.
- Competent in carpentry and the use of hand tools.
- Diagnoses problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components. Be a liaison with staff who do not have the same level of expertise in order to problem solve mechanical issues/work stoppage in a professional manner. Know who and when to contact for contractor assistance.
- Diagnose and trouble shoot electrical issues on kiln equipment using electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, ohm meters, and 3-phase power analyzers.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; work with purchasing department on placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt and participate in costing audits.
- Maintains continuity among colleagues and management by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Follows internal blue sheet process for maintenance requests.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. This includes complying with all OSHA safety and health rules.
- Maintains work area and related equipment in a clean and orderly fashion and follows prescribed safety regulations. Responsible for Lock Out Tag Out procedures and training.
- Attend bi-weekly Systems meetings with Director of Operations and Owner/President.
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Operations, such as keeping the maintenance area clean and tidy and handling assigned maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Participate in all Safety and Health Training Programs as required.
OTHER PERTINENT JOB INFORMATION:
- Physical- This position is very active and requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
- Equipment– Various maintenance tools to complete required job duties and a computer (email, Excel, Word, Google suite).
- It is every employee’s responsibility to perform each job task safely. If an employee is unsure how to perform the task safely and/or follow operating procedures, he or she must consult with their lead/manager.
- OSHA Certifications as required.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Maintenance Systems Manager provides the maintenance knowledge and technical skills to implement technical strategies, evaluate products and provide a superior level of technical support that benefit the company.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Must have a minimum of five to seven year’s technical, mechanical, and electrical training; or be a mechanical field service provider with equivalent experience.
- Excellent analytical, communication and time management skills needed.
- Superior organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Able to deal with multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, effective listening, and strong oral and written communication skills are required.
- A willingness to work extra hours or weekend hours if needed.
- Must be able to lead by example and represent the Safety Committee within the company.
- Requires a high school diploma or GED.
- Construction Electrician degree or Electrical Journeyman status a plus.

This position has an hourly range of $38.50-$43.50 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate for this position. The final hourly rate will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, which include a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
