Description
We are seeking a skilled CDL A Operator to join our railroad derailment response team. This role involves operating heavy equipment and commercial vehicles to assist in derailment cleanups, and material transportation. The ideal candidate has experience with heavy machinery, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work in demanding conditions, including emergency response situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, roll-offs, lowboys, and dump trucks.
- Transport heavy equipment and materials to and from derailment sites.
- Assist in derailment cleanup, track repair, and debris removal.
- Safely operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and dozers.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Work in various weather conditions and emergency situations, often on-call.
- Maintain and inspect vehicles and equipment for safe operation.
- Collaborate with team members, railroad personnel, and emergency responders.
Qualifications:
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in heavy equipment operation (excavators, loaders, etc.).
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in physically demanding environments.
- Railroad experience preferred but not required.
- Hazmat and/or tanker endorsement a plus.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- On-call availability for emergency derailment response.
- Work in challenging outdoor conditions, including rough terrain and extreme weather.
- Travel required, often on short notice.
