Description

 Norman Bird Sanctuary is seeking seasonal Teacher Naturalists for our Summer Camp program. Teacher Naturalists lead groups of 12-15 campers in grades PreK through 8; plan and teach a variety of hands-on, nature-based camp activities; oversee camper health and safety; communicate with staff and parents; and supervise high school Assistant Naturalists in Training (A.N.T.s). Term of employment runs June 13 – August 15, including 5 days of staff training with a CPR and First AID certification option for those who are not already certified. 

Fledglings | Ages 4-5 years | Monday-Friday, 8:00 am–3:00 pm

Nature Day |Ages 6-11 years | Monday-Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm

Coastal Camp |Ages 8-11 years | Monday-Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm

Explorers | Ages 12-13 |Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00 am–4:00 pm & Wednesday 2:30 pm–9:30 pm

  

COMPENSATION: 

Salary is based upon experience and position, starting at $15 per hour, paid biweekly. This is an exempt, at-will, temporary position. Requirements

  · Must be at least 18 years old by June first

· Knowledge of or a strong interest in the natural sciences

· Experience working with children in a responsible and professional educational setting

· Strong communication skills

· Must pass national and state background checks

· Bachelor’s degree or coursework towards a college degree in education, environmental science, or biology preferred

· Preference for Coastal Camp Teacher Naturalists given to candidates with marine science experience

Starts at $18.00 per hour
