General summaries of duties: Triages patients and administers appropriate treatment under the direction of a provider or other medical provider staff in an office setting. Provides patient education and counseling, as directed by the office provider. Works under the supervision of the Site Manager. Responsible for maintaining their work area in a clean and orderly fashion.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function in this job.

· Greets patients, obtains, and charts vital signs, directs patient to appropriate exam room.

· Obtains and charts patients’ chief complaint/reason for visit, to include current medications, medical, surgical, family, and social history.

· Performs and charts urine dips, finger sticks and EKG/ECG’s and any other ancillary testing on patients.

· Assists provider with patient exams and procedures in an office setting.

· Administers and charts injections and all other medication per providers’ orders.

· Assists provider in answering and triaging patient phone calls to include medication refills, etc.

Examples of Duties: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)

· Assists provider in patient education, and counseling directed by the Provider.

· Provide required vaccine information sheet and handouts as directed by the Provider.

· Prepares the examination room for each patient’s visit. Ensures adequate supplies and

appropriate instruments are available.

· Maintains lab area and keeps clean throughout the day.

· If assigned, check refrigerator/freezer temperature and document in the temperature logbook.

· If assigned daily Quality Control (QC) perform and document in the Quality Control book.

· Replaces sharps containers in exam rooms as needed per the Healthcare OSHA guidelines.

· If assigned, responsible for cleaning and sterilizing instruments.

· Maintains needed supplies and stock exam rooms daily.

· Working Electronic Health Records “jellybeans”/tasks to include telephone encounters, actions, documents, labs, radiology (DI) etc.

· Assists with scheduling of appointments, tests and procedures as needed.

· At the end of the day and as each room is no longer needed, closes down the rooms by turning beds off, disinfecting the table, placing biohazard waste in a red bag, and general cleaning.

· Collects biohazard bags and properly places them in the red biohazard containers in biohazard room.

· Receive and process vaccine shipments according to office protocols.

· May need to assist in locking and unlocking doors to suite/building as needed

Requirements

 

Job Qualifications:

· Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with a copy of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

· Proof of current CPR certificate.

· Proof of Hepatitis B series or waiver required

· Twelve (12) months of previous healthcare office experience and/or recent certification from a technical trade school is preferred.

· Twelve (12) months of customer service is also preferred.

· Typing ability of 30-40 wpm, Word processing, Excel, Microsoft computer experience and Electronic Health Record experience preferred.

· Personable and professional demeanor.

· Maintain neat and clean appearance.

· Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and concisely.

· Ability to read, understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.

· Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

· Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.

· Must be trained in current Healthcare OSHA regulations in an office setting.

· Must be trained and compliant with HIPAA regulations
