The goal of Press Support is to further the operator’s efficiency in the operation of their printing press. Following the daily schedule, they gather components required for subsequent jobs and stage them accordingly. At a moment’s notice they are prepared to assist the operator in the setup, copy changeover or teardown of the operator’s scheduled job. Their support is vital to a clean, organized and productive environment.


Job Duties:


· Preview schedule to determine which tickets components need to be gathered first.

· Read over the ticket to determine any special instructions for set up. Collect the dies, cylinders and inks required for the ticket and stage them on cart.

· Look up ink formulations and combine inks for specified colors when needed.

· Pull stocks from inventory and deliver to the beginning of press.

· Trim printing plates to the proper length and mount them to print cylinders in the proper orientation and stage on cart.

· Read over the item’s plate packet to figure out the required amount of ink trays, doctor blades and aniloxes needed for print  stations, and stage on cart. 

· Mark in Label Traxx schedule the completion of staging the ticket components to indicate it is ready for press.

· Assist the operator in the removal or installation of ink trays, doctor blades and aniloxes from the press.

· Assemble ink tray components and doctor blades.

· Unmount plates and sticky-back from print cylinders.

· Drain ink from tray into proper container and wash tray, tray components, doctor blade and anilox.

· Clean plates and return them to the proper plate packet.

· Return dies, inks and cylinders to their designated storage location.

· Clean and organize the wash area.

· Replenish supplies needed for your job and the presses.

· Empty rag bins at press.

· Put away incoming Inventory.

· Remove empty pallets from the press area and dispose of broken ones.

· Refill chemical bottles and replace label information when needed. 

· Sweep floors, empty garbage cans and empty cardboard recycle bins.

Requirements

 Job Requirements:


• High School Diploma/ GED

• Basic math skills required

• Experience in manufacturing or related field is preferred

• Press room experience a plus but not necessary, would be willing to train

• Basic shop skills, such as using hand tools

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

• Competent in computer skills

• Lifting or moving up to 50 lbs.

• Strong communication skills and desire to work with other team members
