AMHC is looking for a skilled Accounting Manager to become part of our Central Office team in Presque Isle. This pivotal role involves supervising accounts payable activities and leading the accounting team to guarantee their responsibilities are performed effectively and efficiently. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and various teams throughout the agency, reflecting AMHC’s core values: Integrity, Compassion, Excellence, Service, Collaboration, and Respect, in interactions with colleagues, clients, and community members.


Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Lead the Accounting Staff: Oversee staff responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation. Assist in recruitment, hiring, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Training & Development: Coordinate training programs for new hires and identify ongoing training needs for current staff.
  • Internal Controls & Guidelines: Establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee the creation of program reports and financial forecasts while supporting the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer in the development of the annual agency budget.
  • Compliance & Audits: Ensure adherence to accounting standards and compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit process.
  • Strategic Recommendations: Present recommendations on short- and long-term financial goals and policies.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Provide the senior leadership team with regular financial reports and analysis to support informed decision-making.
  • HUD-Related Activities: Oversee all activities related to monthly, quarterly, and yearly HUD requirements as assigned.
  • Reconciliations: Ensure general ledger and other related reconciliations are done accurately and timely.

Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required AND
  • A minimum of 3 years of management experience.
