Position Summary
As a Pastry Prep Cook at Good Ambler, you will support the pastry team in producing a variety of baked goods, including laminated breakfast pastries, quick breads, cookies, cakes, jams, custards, chocolate bonbons, bars, and seasonal confections. This role is ideal for someone with professional kitchen experience or pastry school training who is looking to expand their skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Baking off croissants and breakfast pastries each morning
- Producing cookies, cakes, jams, custards, and other dessert components
- Preparing and serving items from our café menu
- Assisting in the creation of seasonal and holiday confections
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including dishwashing, trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing
- Collaborating with the team and stepping in where needed to ensure smooth operations
About You:
- At least one year of pastry experience in a professional kitchen or completion of pastry school
- Must have or be willing to obtain a food handler’s certification
- Reliable and able to commit to at least four shifts per week, including Sundays, with early morning start times (5 AM)
- Able to work efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized workspace
- Comfortable working independently while also being a supportive team member
- Open to feedback and eager to develop new skills
- Able to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing/walking for up to 10 hours, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing repetitive tasks such as scooping dough, spreading batters, and piping fillings
- Comfortable working in an environment with potential allergens, including peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, eggs, and dairy
