Position Summary:

WCAC is seeking a Controller to serve as the “Right Hand” to the CFO, acting as a key financial leader and business partner to the Senior Management Team. This role oversees the finance staff, ensuring effective management of accounts payable, payroll, grants, and financial reporting while fostering a high-performing team aligned with the organization's strategic vision. The Controller is responsible for supervising payroll operations, cash receipts, and bank reconciliations, as well as assisting in the preparation of financial statements and maintaining an accurate general ledger structure. Additionally, they play a critical role in managing grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting a timely and accurate financial close process.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related field required. 
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a finance department and performing grant fund accounting. Experience supervising accounting or finance staff preferred.
  • Experience writing policies and procedures that comply with GAAP, ensuring proper controls are in place.
  • Prior Non-Profit, grant funded accounting experience.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and effective verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in excel and accounting software platforms, Abila MIP preferred.
  • Proven successful ability to take concepts from inception to implementation.
  • Embraces and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. 
Salary Description
$75,000 to $85,000 per year
