Description
The Alfond Youth and Community Center is looking for a creative sports-minded individual who cares about children to join our awesome Afterschool Program team! The Physical Education Instructor will spend a few hours each day planning out a gym class and implementing the plan with kids ages Pre-K through 12 years old. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead a group of children in After-School and Summer Enrichment Program physical education activities
- Plan and implement daily curriculum for children during out of school time which teaches various athletics, sports fundamentals, sportsmanship, and health and wellness.
- Plan and implement weekly gym classes and/or wellness activities with the AYCC Preschool program and with homeschool or other community groups.
- Guide and help the children adjust and grow within the program guidelines
- Collect and track data for specific programming to comply with certain grant requirements.
- Maintain and organize gym equipment, advising on needs and creating a yearly budget with the program supervisor.

- Excellent communication skills along with the skills necessary to work with groups of children made up of different ages and skill levels.
- Ability, desire and basic skills to work with children are mandatory.
- Exemplify sportsmanship and good values of physical fitness and overall health.
WORK SCEHDULE: Position is part-time at 25 hours/week during the school year with up to 40 hours in the summer enrichment program.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- High School diploma or equivalent. A degree or some college education is preferred in the area of Community Health, Athletics, or Physical Education.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of two years of work experience working with children.
- Must have CPR/First Aid certification or be willing to become certified.
Salary Description
$15.25-$17.16 per hour
