Description
The Custodian is responsible for providing consistently excellent customer service while following a routine of maintaining a clean and organized environment for customers and team members. This position upholds Co-op standards including genuine customer service, department conditions, safety protocols, productivity, and other workplace conditions in a manner that upholds the values of La Montañita Food Cooperative.
SOME FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and promote high standards of customer service. Refer customers to appropriate staff persons when unable to provide service.
- Keep the store sales floor orderly and clean by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- Gather and empty trash from all receptacles.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, fixtures and mirrors.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Follow procedures and safety guidelines for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors, fixtures, or self.
- Maintain cleanliness of outside areas, custodial rooms, and areas throughout the location.
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- May at times assist in the set-up, arrangement, and removal of decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
- Perform light maintenance duties as needed.
- Report involvement in any accidents or injuries to management.
- Ensure that equipment is maintained to company operating standards. Notify appropriate individuals concerning the need for repairs and report any damage or malfunction of any equipment.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, customers, members, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Requirements
ATTRIBUTES & QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3 years of experience or more is preferred.
- Good oral and written communication skills; speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; actively listen and get clarification; write clearly and informatively; read and interpret information accurately.
- Ability to multi-task, and be flexible in completing job duties.
- Good degree of accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Working knowledge of pest control products.
- Ability to work flexible schedule (weekday/weekend and daytime/evening shifts as needed).
- Ability to adhere and follow safety and wellness guidelines. Safety Conscious and adhering to required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to act with integrity, ethically, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
