This position is responsible for carrying out overall kitchen operations. Duties include cooking, proportioning, delivering snacks and meals to our YMCA Child Care and School Age Program, coordinating with other cook staff, general cleaning, dishes and record keeping. Provide a clean and healthy working environment within the licensing regulations of the State of Wisconsin.
This is a full-time, year-round position, with a full benefit package and complimentary family membership. Typical work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:00AM - 3:00PM (hours may vary).
RESPONSIBILITES:
Breakfast and Lunch
- Drive YMCA vehicle to catering location to pick up and load lunch.
- Proportion and deliver food to classrooms. Separate meals for children with special allergies, etc.
- Post menu in the kitchen.
- Dispose of all leftover food.
- Wash all catered and YMCA dishes.
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment in the kitchen through room arrangement and organization.
Snack
- Plan, prepare, and deliver all snacks.
- Keep track of inventory, provide order form to Child Care Director.
- Order and assist with purchasing of all food needed.
- Wash all snack dishes.
Other Duties
- Attend staff meetings, staff training, orientation and in-service of 4 hours per year of kitchen sanitation and food handling, provided by the YMCA.
- Establish positive and productive relationships with staff, children, and families.
- Support and supervise volunteers and hired staff assigned to assist in the kitchen.
- Comply with state licensing regulations as well as YMCA quality standards. Adhere to OSHA standards and guidelines.
- Check classroom rosters weekly.
- Work with child care office staff on food program paperwork and submission of monthly food reimbursement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age. This position requires the ability to work independently, strong organization skills, knowledge of proper food handling, cleaning and sanitation. The listed qualifications are representative of the attributes necessary for successful performance of the position. Substitution of comparable training or abilities, as well as reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities, will be taken into consideration. ServeSafe certification preferred, but not required. CPR w/AED and First Aid is a prerequisite of hire, but will allow 60 days post-hire to obtain.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift, carry and load and push food boxes and trays (up to 50 pounds). Must be able to accomplish shift duties for a shift of up to 7 consecutive hours. Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving company vehicle. Prior to work, you must complete a physician-signed health examination and a fingerprint background check.
