Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity for college students to gain hands-on experience with real-world engineering applications in the instrumentation and manufacturing industry. Interns will work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to various projects that enhance Dwyer’s product quality, innovation, and manufacturing processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Sustaining Existing Products: Gain hands-on experience with Dwyer's instrumentation products, including pressure gauges, flow meters, and air quality sensors. Assist in maintaining and improving current products by performing routine checks, troubleshooting issues, and implementing enhancements.
  • Quality Inspection & Calibration: Conduct quality inspections on incoming parts to ensure they meet our stringent standards and specifications. Participate in calibration and testing processes to ensure product accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaboration on New Product Design: Participate in brainstorming sessions and collaborate with the design team on developing new products, providing valuable input and feedback to meet industry standards and certifications such as ISO 9001:2015.
  • Manufacturing & Process Optimization: Observe and participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to improve process efficiency and learn about Dwyer’s commitment to manufacturing excellence. Develop proficiency in data acquisition and analysis related to instrumentation performance.
  • Professional Development & Mentorship: Receive mentorship from seasoned engineers to develop technical and professional skills, preparing for a future career in engineering.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering w/GPA 3.0 or better (Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Industrial, or related field).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of quality control processes and standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, and lean principles.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and develop new skills.
