Starting Salary Range: $66,997 - $87,097 annually ($34.36 - $44.67 per hour) DOE, plus benefits

The Position

We are seeking to fill the position of “Accountant I.” The work this person does will have a substantial impact on financial operations and reporting for our agency.


Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Finance, the Accountant I will provide service to the agency by performing accounting and financial tasks related to the business and financial operations of the agency together with and in support of other members of the Finance team. This work will play an important role in accomplishing the Everett Housing Authority’s mission: “The Everett Housing Authority creates affordable housing and fosters healthy communities where households thrive.


Responsibilities

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, the Accountant I will work to ensure that financial information produced by the agency is accurate and complies with ongoing and changing requirements. You will learn and follow agency policies and processes and be able to explain and guide staff to do the same. You will prepare or oversee preparation of certain financial transactions and reports in a timely and accurate manner. You will prepare other analysis and reports as needed throughout the year. You will work with others to help develop and document new processes as needed.


The Accountant I will play a vital role in similar work for the agency as a whole and will support the Director of Finance, Deputy Director, and Other Finance Staff in gathering information and conducting analysis as needed.


Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or related field.
  • Six months of related financial work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Financial practices, including accounting, budgeting, and forecasting;
  • Principles and practices of modern financial management and techniques;
  • Budget preparation and control; public sector experience beneficial;
  • Principles and methods of effective communication;
  • Effectively use Microsoft suite of software programs; proficiency in Excel;
