Position: Special Needs Coordinator
Location: Blue Oaks
Reports to: Kids Ministry Director
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Job Status: Part-time
The Special Needs (SN) Coordinator will enhance and expand the special needs ministry at Bayside Church and utilize their leadership skills in the areas of local outreach, weekend services, and community connections. The goal of the Special Needs Coordinator is to create inspiring content, connection, and opportunity through their spiritual giftings and role in our ministry, so that every child, teen, and adult with special needs feels welcomed, loved, and empowered.
General Responsibilities
Support Weekend Services
- Work alongside the Children’s team to adapt the curriculum (Bible story, object lesson, and arts & crafts) to meet the needs of every child and teen in our Special Needs ministry.
- Prepare fun and engaging sensory activities for the weekends.
- Manage the room and service flow when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by Kids Ministry Director.
Connect with Parents
- Connect with parents on a weekly basis via text, phone calls, and/or meet ups.
- Build relationship with current families.
- Develop and maintain an online and text connection center that leads parents to weekend service information and descriptions of upcoming events.
Build a Connections Team
- Attract new volunteers.
- Provide training for volunteers.
- Provide weekly encouragement.
- Plan quarterly volunteer appreciation.
- Communicate regularly with volunteers to encourage and promote the spiritual, emotional, and ministerial growth of the volunteers.
Spiritual Growth & Leadership Development
- Attend weekly Children’s meeting and All Staff meetings.
- Meet with supervisor to develop goals and action items.
- Take different spiritual growth and leadership development tests.
Events
- Partner with the Kids Director and Special Needs Directors across other Bayside Campuses.
- Enhance current events.
- Propose new events.

Qualification
- 2 year’s experience in related field.
- Proficient in using modern technology tools, with a solid understanding of basic computer operations and the ability to quickly learn new applications and systems.
Time Commitment
- Part time, non-exempt, at-will, includes weekends, evening and holidays
