Assembly Leads (Bilingual English/Spanish (Off Shift Schedule 6:00pm-2:30am)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position reports to the Assembly Supervisor. The primary role of this position is to oversee production employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment: plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures, and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Plans, directs, coordinates, and controls activities of workers engaged in assembling parts or assemblies into units by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

  • Communicates job expectations, planning, monitoring, and relates feedback of job results to direct reports.
  • Coaches, and counsels’ employees as well as initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains workflow in accordance with the Production Tracker and the Shipping Schedule by scheduling and assigning personnel; establishing and communicating priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules and resolving problems.
  • Interfaces with other departments to ensure customer order deadlines are met.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Maintains time, production records, production schedules, and production reports.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Maintains an appropriate labor-management relationship with subordinates.
  • Directly oversees 4-10 employees in the Production Department for the off shift. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Coordinates new assembly lead training and set up; lead credentials, equipment set up for off- shift production leads.
  • Provides weekly report on any incidents during off-shift hours, safety concerns, production limitations, operator performance, and kitting operators, etc.
  • Collaborates with Senior Lead and Supervisor on coordinating production operations.
  • Categorizes and approves reworks for all off-shift operators and corroborates with leads on maintaining rework presentation standards and flow.
  • Collaborates with Supervisor on corrective actions for off-shift operators.
  • Creates detailed schedule timelines for assembly leads time off requests in rotation to ensure coverage.
  • Coaches and develops leadership strategies for assembly leads. Schedules assembly lead re-training when is needed.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.


Requirements

EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires high school diploma.
  • Associate’s degree or 2 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively direct, oversee, and monitor 50-100 employees in the Production Department
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and handle multiple tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
