Ultimate responsibility: Deliver an excellent culinary experience that comforts and engages our community members, which requires intimately knowing every resident and their unique needs.
Other primary responsibilities include:
- Ensuring residents experience an excellent culinary experience with foods that are, in turn, interesting, surprising, unique, comforting, traditional and reminiscent of their own life experiences
- Follow standard procedures and best practices to ensure the meticulous cleanliness of the kitchen, servery and three dining venues
- Follow standard procedures and best practices to maintain regulatory compliance with all applicable agencies on all matters related to food service and safety
- Collaborate in preparing dishes based on resident orders, or based on agreed menu planning for residents in Harbor, consistent with recipes and standards established by the Culinary Director
- Perform routine kitchen tasks, following the prep/production list created by management
- Set up workstations and stock ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
- Label all ingredients prepared so they can be used in cooking
Qualifications:
- Culinary and nutritional education, preferred
- ServSafe food handling certification, preferred
- 1-3 years of experience being part of a culinary team
- Demonstrated knowledge of cooking methods and techniques
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knife techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting and dicing
- Experience interacting with and deeply relating to seniors
- Meets all applicable licensing and background requirements
- Experience interacting with and deeply relating to seniors
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to work 11:30am - 7:30pm, Full week availability
