Are you a skilled over-the-road driver with a proven track record of success? Mel-O-Cream Donuts International Inc. is currently seeking a full-time truck driver to join our team. We're looking for individuals with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience (don't worry, we're willing to train the right candidate) and a clean driving record.
Position Details:
- Route: Your typical weekly route will run from Monday to Friday, allowing you to enjoy weekends off.
- Overnight Stays: Expect to be away from home for approximately 2 nights a week, with occasional Sunday departures.
- Scheduling: Weekly route schedules will be posted about a week in advance, although they may be subject to change.

Pay is a combination of miles and stop pay. We have late model equipment and take pride in operating a safe fleet that follows DOT regulations. For further information about the position, please see below.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director of Logistical Services, the Truck Driver is to operate his or her assigned vehicle in a safe and legal manner, while delivering Mel-O-Cream products to our customers on time. While off company property, the Truck Driver (heretofore called Driver) is fully responsible for the load and the equipment.
Along with delivering Mel-O-Cream product, the Driver may be assigned to pick up material at different locations before returning home. Some of this material may be property purchased by the company and bound for our facility to be used as ingredients. Other products picked up may be property that is transported for a third party, and it is in this instance that the Driver will be operating as a driver for a for-hire motor carrier engaged in for-hire regulated contract cartage.
- Safely operate a truck with a minimum capacity of 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).
- Ensure timely and secure delivery of goods to designated locations.
- pull refer trailers and make scheduled deliveries to grocery warehouses.
- Load and unload cargo

As part of our comprehensive hiring process, we invite candidates to complete a brief Cultural Index Survey.
DRIVING The Driver will deliver product to our vendors in a safe, legal and courteous manner. The Driver will also make other pickups and deliveries.
RECORD KEEPING The Driver will keep all government and movement documents current and in good legal order. This includes the use of electronic logs effective November 1, 2017.
UNLOADING It is the responsibility of the Driver to see that his load is unloaded in the fashion that the customer requests and that the count is correct. The Driver may be called upon to unstack, restack, re-palletize or segregate products at some locations, obtain customer signatures, and/rarely collect payment for goods.
EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE Each Driver will be assigned equipment that he/she will operate on a regular basis. It is the Driver’s responsibility to make the Director of Logistical Services aware of when scheduled maintenance is to take place. It is also the Driver’s responsibility to see that his/her equipment is kept clean, both inside and outside. The Driver is also charged with performing and documenting a daily pre-trip and post-trip inspection.
PERSONAL HYGIENE We as the drivers are the face of MOC to our customers and the last ones to see our products. It is the Drivers responsibility, both while at the plant as well as while he/she is away, to be cognizant of his/her personal appearance and hygiene. To facilitate this, the Company will compensate the Driver for the cost of daily showers or a hotel room, whichever is in order.
- Pass a D.O.T. Drug Test and physical
- Possess a valid Illinois CDL-A
- Strong work ethic
- Must possess a basic knowledge and understanding of all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Sec. 177 & 383-396)
- Possess a working knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to vehicle weight, configurations, size, and routing
- Previous experience in truck driving or other related fields
- Will consider driving school grads
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Lift 50 lbs. regularly while unloading
- Must be able to read bills of lading, to ascertain delivery location
- Use and understand email and other internet-based tools for communication and reporting
- Be able to read and navigate using a map
