Position Summary:
The Estimator will provide cost-based estimates on all products and services provided by The Company. The Estimator must have a thorough understanding of the work to be performed to produce accurate pricing on all deliverables. This position must use multiple sources of information to determine milestones, estimate purchases, costs of subcontractors, and employee time. Within this position is the opportunity to Identify, qualify, and cultivate new leads and obtain sales.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Material, Product, and Services Estimates
· Read and understand quote requests including plans and specifications
· Fully understand the scope of work
· Develop scope and produce product schedules
· Gather and maintain hard quotes from approved subcontractors and vendors
· Work with department managers to determine methods for completion
· Translate conceptual designs into material and labor costs
· Verify that jobs being sold accurately match the estimates
· Review projects with GM
· Complete final sign off on all sold packages
Duties associated with the position
· Assist sales in submittal of RFI’s
· Assist with project scheduling
· Assist sales in readying the bid documents and/or proposal
· Assist sales in maintaining database of SSI bids in relation to competitors
· Assist in building and maintaining relationships with contractors
· Develop and maintain pricing and design templates
· Maintain SSI expected margins
· Negotiate pricing with subcontractors and material vendors
· Maintain relationships with subs, venders, and suppliers
· Assist in finding new suppliers
· Maintain current price database for common items and services
· Maintain confidential and proprietary information
· Identify project risks
Additional Duties
· Performs any appropriate duties assigned by the General Manager
· Develop new business when given the opportunity
· Performs assigned duties with minimum personal supervision
· Attend company meetings as required
Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Solid organizational skills; able to multi-task and complete requests in a timely and professional manner.
· Resourceful; can devise creative solutions to problems.
· Critical Thinking—Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
· Time Management—Managing one’s own time and reporting accurately.
· Computer literate and able to type 50 wpm
· Stays fluent and trained in company required software, programs, and operating systems
