POSITION SUMMARY: Silver Bay YMCA is hiring an Associate Director of Spiritual Life and Chaplaincy with a focus on pastoral care, programming, and community engagement. This role provides leadership, networking, and creating a welcoming environment for guests and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Works with the Spiritual Life Director to oversee a variety of Spiritual Life programs including pastoral care through chapel and memorial services, baptisms, weddings, and spiritual direction.
Fosters connection with local pastors, churches, faith-based organizations, and universities through hosting events and intentional relationship building.
Expands the pastoral respite program through networking and curriculum enhancement, improving guest experience, and spiritual growth.
Creates a welcoming environment, extending hospitality to guests and staff, building team cohesion and a positive work environment.
Works with the Marketing Department to ensure the effective promotion of Spiritual Life Center events and programs via appropriate channels.
Embodies a gracious presence, positive attitude, and a compassionate spirit. Promotes the mission and values of the Silver Bay YMCA and Spiritual Life Center through leadership and action.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A degree in theology, ministry, or related field (master's degree preferred).
· Proven experience in pastoral care, spiritual direction, and community outreach.
· Strong organizational and program management skills.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Ability to build relationships and network with diverse groups, including church leaders, community organizations, and universities.
· A positive, welcoming, and gracious attitude, with an ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities.
· Strong administrative skills, including event coordination and budget management.
· Prior experience in a leadership role, particularly in a faith-based or spiritual setting, is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
